번짐의 흔적 A Trace of Color Spread
Humans suffer in the system created by humans.
Compared to the past, he is materially rich, but he is an empty and lonely human being.
Human beings constantly try to break away from the existing order, but in the end, they agonize over the contradictions that are active within that order.
인간이 만든
시스템안에서
인간은 고뇌한다.
과거에 비해
물질적으로
풍요롭지만
허전하고 외로운 인간,
그리고
끊임없이 기존 질서에서 벗어나려 하지만 결국
그 질서 안에서 활동하는 모순에 대한 고뇌를 한다.
Human contemplates in the system we built. Humanity confronts emptiness and solitude while society is prosperous with sources. Although we strive to escape from the systematic order, ultimately, the unavoidable engagement with the existing order reveals as a contradiction to be considered. In the realm of the system in which humankind encounters the attribution of systematic con- figuration, a solitude, wound, anxiety, and lethargy reveal through the objects, conversation, language, and behavior that manifest from the memory and relationship of personal relation. Its profound presence is deeply ingrained in our body, and intensely pervaded pain is ex- pressed with a desire in comfort. This desire is represented through a pictorial contemplation. A figure lowering his head is seeped, spread, and evaporated onto the surface by brushstrokes of 'thought'; its trace follows life's journey. What is the resolution for the solitude, depression, and lethargy that prevail in our lives in a complex modern society? It is questioned by the 'body' solitarily standing in an unsettled place on the surface of the painting. A simple cycle of death and life entails a subtly complication relation. My work portrays precarious figures that are elusively positioned on hanji, traditional Korean paper, and the back- ground is filled with luminous colors. As identical to the repetition in life, the process of creation is also repeated. The series of trace make layers. Upon contemplating humanity, solitude, nihility, and anxiety, the true meaning of the presence of life is further emphasized. Sayu2020, the 'thought' series depicts human figures in thick and thin lines repeatedly drawn on hanji at a distance of time to create multiple layers. Dark and soft lines slowly dissolve onto the hanji. Spread lines mark dry parts and wet parts of lines, which resonates with maturity in life and its depth. The work embraces the pervasive distress of life in a constant endeavor to alleviate the agony. The desire to grasp liberty leaves the trace as spreads. In the frame of 'thought,' colors from the outside gradually spread and expand into outer chaos where colors outline the relationship while colliding with the inside elements. When the figures of 'thought' are painted with the brush, depending on the temperature, time, and brushstrokes, the color spread effect varies. My work produces various results according to the speed and pressure of brushstroke and temperature applied in the space in between the conscious and unconscious. The seasonal change leaves a trace on the edge of figures based on each season's temperature difference. The seeping and spreading process onto the body evaporates by the temperature and time interval, and the trace is shown. 인간이 만든 시스템안에서 인간은 고뇌한다. 과거에 비해 물질적으로 풍요롭지만 허전하고 외로운 인간, 그리고 끊임없이 기존 질서에서 벗어나려 하지만 결국 그 질서 안에서 활동하는 모순에 대한 고뇌를 한다.
인간은 매 순간 시스템안에서 존재하는 모든 것에 노출 되어있다. 인간관계의 기억과 관계에서 만들어진 사물들, 대화, 언어와 행위가 만들어낸 고독, 상처, 불안, 무기력과 공허함이 있다. 그 무거운 존재는 몸틀 내부 깊숙이 가라앉고, 무겁게 스며든 상처는 가벼워지려는 인간의 욕구로 표출 된다. 가벼워지려는 욕구는 회화적 사유로 표현되었다. 고개를 숙이고 있는 인간의 형상은 사유의 붓질로 스미고 번지고 증발하여 그 흔적이 인생여정마다 남아있다. 복잡한 현대사회에서 우리의 일상을 지배하는 불안과 고독, 우울과 무기력을 회복하기 위해 우리는 무엇을 할 수 있을까? 홀로 외로이 화면 속에 불확실한 위치에 서있는 몸이 묻는다. 태어나 살고 죽는 단순한 인생이지만 복잡 미묘한 관계가 있다. 내 작업은 한지에 불확실하게 위치한 형태를 그리고 채색하고 배경을 칠한다. 반복적으로 삶을 이어가는 과정처럼 반복작업을 한다. 층층이 작업한 흔적들은 레이어에 쌓인다. 인간의 실존과 고독 그리고 허무와 불안을 사유하며 존재에 대한 의미를 묻는다.
sayu2020 사유시리즈는 인간의 형상을 이루는 외형의 몸틀에 진하고 연한 선을 한지 위에 시차를 두고 여러 번 겹겹이 그렸다. 진하고 연한 선은 한지에 스며든다. 스며든 선은 건조한 선과 습한 선을 남긴다. 인간이 성장해 무거움을 느끼게 되는 과정을 표현한것이다. 또한 몸틀에 스며드는 삶의 무게를 줄이려는 인간의 고뇌를 담았다. 가벼워지려는 인간의 욕구는 번짐의 흔적을 남긴다.
사유의 틀에 외부에서 들어오는 색채들이 스며들고 그 몸체에 흡수된 색채들은 혼돈 속에 외부로 번지고 외부에 존재하는 요소와의 충돌 속에서 관계의 테두리가 형성된다. 붓으로 사유의 형태를 그려 나갈 때 온도, 시간, 붓의 속도에 따라 번짐효과는 다르게 나타난다. 나의 작업은 의식과 무의식의 사이에서 붓질의 속도와 압력, 온도에 따라 결과물이 다르게 나타난다. 계절마다 봄 여름 가을 겨울의 온도 차이는 사유 형상의 테두리에 변화의 흔적을 남긴다. 몸에 흡수되는 스밈과 번짐의 과정은 온도와 시간의 차이로 증발하여 관계의 흔적을 남긴다. 사유의 틀과 여백과의 경계선에서 울리는 사유의 몸짓은 삶의 무거움과 가벼움에 대한 끊임없는 저울질을 한다. 고강필
